Executive Summary
How Might We (HMW) Statement
How Might We design a unified, scalable admin dashboard that eliminates risky database queries, streamlines user management, and supports enterprise growth while balancing compliance security needs with operational efficiency?
Who is this product for?
Telecom | Fintech industry, an admin-facing dashboard for a digital wallet, used by admins, compliance analysts, and partner bank managers to efficiently manage operations and transactions.
Problem Statement and Goals
Problem
The digital wallet’s growth caused inefficient workflows. The legacy dashboard showed only the last 10 transactions, forcing clients to use risky database-level queries with date-based filters, prone to production errors. Compliance teams demanded secure, granular controls to mitigate risks, while operations teams prioritized faster reporting, creating stakeholder conflicts.
The platform needed a unified interface to:
Streamline role-based user provisioning
Provide secure, real-time transaction insights
Simplify partner bank integration
Support enterprise scalability
My Role
As UX/UI Designer (Feature Lead), I drove end-to-end UX for User Management, Transaction Reporting, and Bank Integration, handling:
Stakeholder workshops to resolve conflicts
Scalable IA design
Prototyping in Figma and Sketch
Engineering collaboration for feasibility
Accessibility and role-based usability
Design Process
Discovery & Research
Conducted interviews with admins, compliance, and bank teams to map pain points and align on priorities.
Findings: Manual database queries risked production errors; limited dashboard views (last 10 transactions) hindered reporting; inconsistent bank onboarding slowed operations..
Conflict: Compliance insisted on restricted data access to mitigate risks, while operations pushed for faster, less restricted reporting tools.
Insight: Tailored interfaces per user role, unified by a secure IA, could balance speed, safety, and scalability.
Synthesis & Ideation
Mediated workshops to design a modular IA in Miro, prioritizing:
Role-based access for security and clarity
Tabbed transaction dashboard with real-time filters
Bank integration wizard for efficiency
User Story Map
This map outlines user goals, pain points, opportunities, and proposed features, aligning design with user needs and business objectives.
Prototyping & Testing
Built wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma with a componentized design system. Conducted usability tests over two sprints.
Decisions: Used progressive disclosure, standardized role templates, and added custom report filters to eliminate database queries.
Learnings: Bulk actions and status indicators resolved stakeholder concerns.
Delivery
Collaborated with developers on responsive specs, conducted design QA, and delivered a handoff package with interaction states and accessibility notes.
Outcomes
Reflection
Resolving stakeholder conflicts and designing scalable UX honed skills transferable to consumer mobile apps (Android/iOS) through iterative prototyping and data-driven design. Mediating priorities strengthened my ability to deliver in fast-paced, cross-platform environments.
